Our Story - Built on the stage not in the boardroom.
Tassel Events was founded by Domino de Jour, burlesque performer, mentor and artist with over a decade on Melbourne stages and 30+ years in dance. Domino didn't set out to build a company. She set out to fix a feeling.
Burlesque gave her community. It gave her courage. It gave her a sense of belonging she hadn't found anywhere else. Not every performer coming up behind her was getting the same welcome, so she made it her job to change that. Her philosophy is simple: someone has to do it, it may as well be me.
Tassel was never about Domino. It's about the first-year performer rehearsing her debut number in her lounge room. It's about the audience member crying with laughter in row three. We just make it happen.
We run on passion. We believe joy is a form of resistance. We believe art should make people feel seen, not just watched. And we believe Melbourne deserves burlesque that reflects the vibrant, fearless soul of this city.

Burlesque is more than taking your clothes off. It's a bold act of expression. Sometimes it's political. Sometimes it's deeply personal. It's performance art wrapped in rhinestones, and at its core, the body is a canvas for telling the truth.

Domino
Domino is the heartbeat of Tassel Events. She's a performer, mentor and director with over a fifteen years on burlesque stages, backed by three decades in dance before that.
A true multifaceted individual with multiple awards to her name for burlesque performance and a professional background in government policy development, not -for-profit management and ethics consulting.
She built Tassel to give every performer the comradery and creative freedom she found early in her own career. She still performs, teaches and mentors performers ahead of competitions and debut shows, because that promise still matters to her.

Phil
Need something done, and need it done yesterday?
Co-director, operations and logistics Phil has spent years working across exhibitions, the music industry and values driven not-for- profits . This hands on experience is brought to ever show ensuring we are set up on time, and safely.
He leads the operations crew, manages bump-in and bump-out, and handles the dozens of logistical decisions that happen before a single light comes up. Without Phil, the show doesn't start on time and you have nowhere to sit.

Danica
If you’ve been to a show you have probably met Danica on the door. Danica keeps the night running. She's on the checking tickets, she's behind the scoreboard at our competitions, and she's the one chasing down the admin nobody else wants to do.
